** spoiler alert ** This book started off fairly well, but it's not well written after the first two chapters or so. For one thing, there's not much character growth, and we don't actually see the growth due to the time jumps. There isn't much character development either, other than Adam really. Canin and Kasey are really just background characters that serve as plot devices and Rhone is only slightly more than that. All we really know about Rhone is that he's supposed to be a mentor like guy for Adam, good looking and trusts Adam. That's really it. I mean there is absolutely no character development on Rhone at all. It's all very one sided from Adam's point of view. It just seems like one gloryfied diary of Adam's. For one thing we never get to hear about Rhone's grandmother at all, and when the section comes to her death from a car accident I feel absolutely no emotional attachment to Rhone at all. We don't know anything at all about her other than being a foster parent to Rhone and his brother Canin. I mean if we knew a little more about her, I might feel something for Rhone when he goes into his three day depression and solidarity. But no. Next is how Rhone and Adam got together. It was all rather sudden. We only get slight hints of Rhone's attraction to Adam, but practically nothing on his end. We don't see how he feels for Adam. Don't see how his love for Adam grows. So it just happens at the end. When you write a story about how two people get together, write about the other person as well. We don't get to see how Rhone falls in love with Adam other than his random bits of bi-curiousness in the beginning. It went from that to full on love. Now we go to Kasey and Canin, also very under developed characters who are really just there to serve the plot. At the end Cameron Dane pretty much reveals that Canin had known Adam's attraction to Rhone for a while now. I would've like to have seen Canin with more scenes and actually do something about it. Why can't he have been the jackass older brother who teases Adam about his attraction to Rhone in front of Rhone with the latter not fully getting the point of said teasing? Of course Canin won't fully out Adam, but I would've like to see some more interaction with the characters. I would've liked to have seen more in this book. It was just awkward and felt like something a beginner writer would do. And not a very good writer at that. The only nice parts of the book was the first few chapters and the sex scene.
