I think that the South Beach diet was a great thing. The first 2 weeks are the hardest. After that, life is easy. However, once you go off the diet, it is really hard to get back on. Really, what's life without carbs? Bread! Bread! Bread! Brrrreeeeeaaaaaadddd!

For the past week, I've been mulling over exactly why I gave Wither three stars. And I think one of my main problems would have to be the amount of information we're given about this world. I was constantly asking questions and it seemed like none of them were getting answered. For example, when Rhine ventures out of the mansion with Linden, I was hoping to get a solid description of what Florida was like now. What was life like for normal people? Why was it snowing in Florida, did the first generation do something to alter the weather, or was it natural? Was North America now more of a third world country where the poor suffer immensely while the rich hold all of the power over their heads? Maybe I'm being a bit picky since I live in Florida and felt like I wasn't getting enough details. Regardless, I was disappointed with this aspect of the story. Hoping for answers in book two. I liked Rhine, I really did. She had a good balance going for her. She was strong, but also acted like an other teenage girl would in scary situations. She also didn't fall for Gabriel immediately by looking into his deep blue eyes or any of that mumbo-jumbo. Overall, this was an entertaining read. Very curious to see if that's the last of Housemaster Vaughn we will be seeing...
