Wonderfully escapist, but I missed certain characters from its prequel. The world building is better the second time around but the characters are not the character I fell in love with, and after having fallen for the strong, compassionate Sabriel I was disappointed to find the morose, aloof Lirael. BUT, the author seemed to be aware of that and pokes fun at his characters, although I wonder if he does that too much sometimes. Again, I loved the world-building.

I loved it. This book was fun to read and easy to understand. He outlines improv comedy very comically which, in my opinion, is the way it should really be done. He gets to the point of what he's trying to say and comes back to points he's already made to tie into more complex ideas. I loved it. Very easy to understand and a good one to read as an introduction to books about improvising. It was a little bit short and he maybe made some points I didn't quite agree with, but every improviser is different. I also liked the solo improv excercizes in the back of the book.

the beginning is like a girl version of catcher in the rye. then it takes on it's on it's own persona. she was incredibly brave to write this.
