This book started out so wonderfully and, for the most part, maintained its high level throughout. A collection of oral history interviews with survivors and major players in a fictious, alternate history world wide zombie war, it is incredibly interesting. Rather than addressing the war or the details of the war directly, you get a particular persons view of events and people. Throughout the book, this made it very hard for me to put it down, because it seemed like if I just read the next interview, it would clear things up and I'd understand the couple details that hadn't been fully addressed. I've heard the expression, "Leave them wanting more," but I'm not sure that should apply to books. My one negative criticism of this book is that it left me wanting a lot more. I feel there are some rather large questions left unanswered that I would really like to know, but they aren't addressed directly. If Brooks follows up with a history book-esque treatment of this war, I think I'd really enjoy it. If he doesn't, then I think he left me wanting a little too much more. Over all, though, I would recommend this book. It was very entertaining and worth the slight frustration at the end.
